i love these trees
i just started 2 bonsais today my first ones i think they look good i also got a 7 year old bonsai i got for a birthday present
are bonsi trees speacialy breed for this or can you use almost any species of tree?
You can use any tree you like.
the trees i started are doing great i now have 14 i made
Can a black walnut tree be bonsai’d? I’ve heard from one source that they don’t make good bonsai on a ccount of a long, deep-running tap root. But if it can be done, do you have any tips for success?
no.
because then soil will only touch scrreen
Well, it works. Even with a big piece of screen you STILL need to wire the tree into the pot – through the hole(s).
Post on flickr in the bonsai group.
if the leaves aren’t too big it will work, cut out the tap root and it ought to be fine. I have done this to a tree of mine and I have been growing it for about 4 years since.
Random ?, but could I make a cherry blossom tree into a bonsai type tree???
I want to grow a tree in memory of my daughter, but I am scared to plant it due to natural disaters harming it. I might move and dont want to leave behind a tree that I have been caring for either, ya know?
Anyway, if it were possible to use a cherry blossom tree would it develop flowers like normal cherry blossom trees??
thanks!
what typ of tree do you recoment for a first time Bonsai grower
yeah im pretty sure it would blossom i mean ive seen them produce fruit aswell but i recomd looking it up.
Juniper
what type of tree is best from beginners in australia?
See our video at icandevelopment to understand how to grow people not plants!
Chinese Elm, or Japanese garden juniper are the best beginner species that are bonsai specific and not native to Australia. This would be easier if I knew what part of Australia b/c I could look up the weather.
I used to recommend junipers but they tend to die if their soil does not drain well, or if they are watered too much or too little. These days I recommend Chinese Elm because they grow like weeds, and are tolerant of overwatering and poor soil.
i live in south australia, nd i have recently bough some bonsaia. they are juniper, myoporum, heath nd a fig tree.
Okay, so you have a temperate climate, and a fairly mild one, and right now it is early spring there. Everything you bought should do well there.
kwl, thnx
Would love to see more specifics on how to make the staple
I think it’s clear enough from the imagery.
You just loop the staple around so that there is more surface of the staple area inside the pot. You want it to have two points that will be bent outwards on the bottom of the pot.
So I’m guessing you couldn’t make a bonsai out of a spruce tree seeing as the shape of the tree isn’t right or suited for bonsai. I mean what type of trees could you use that would look the best for bonsai that grow in Ontario Canada? One tree that I can think of would be a maple tree, but the leaves would seam too big.
