They are eating the roots of my house plants. And isn’t it true that they are called “Ear”wigs because they eat the Ears of Corn? I grew corn once and the ears were all eaten inside the husk and there they were – Earwigs.

I have no problem with a few of them around
But when I go to the cottage there are so many of them they are chasing me off the deck
As soon as the sun goes down what I would like to do is get rid of ¾ of them this year
At least half would be nice

What do you do with the orange oil to get rid of earwigs? Please explain? These pests are foreign invaders and can go back to where they came from as far as i am concerned. kill em all!

Actually, about 10 years ago, North and South America did not have earwigs. They came here on ships and planes from Europe. The earwigs we have are actually called European Earwigs.

Don’t use orange oil. Use Canola or Vegetable oil. You put the oil in a small plastic container, and place it where you most often see the bugs, but somewhere where it won’t get accidentally tipped over. Leave this there over night, and you will notice that the earwigs actually climbed in, and were not able to get out because of the thickness with the oil.
