Are plum trees restricted to certain climates in the United States?.. I live in Chicago, and I love plums.. but I don't want to waste my time if plum trees are only indigenous to California (ie: California Plums).. And what about other fruit trees, like Avocadoes, limes, lemons, cherrys, peaches, nectarines.. will these work in the midwest?.. will the trees go dormant in the winter like the oaks, elms, and maples in this region of the country?
